How to Apply Liquid Lipstick Perfectly - 5 Easy Steps in Detail!

Liquid to matte lipsticks are all the craze and they're here to stay. It's become a staple in everyone's vanities and makeup bags. Nowadays, you can't find anyone without a liquid lipstick in their collection. However, as effortless as liquid lipsticks are, the application can be tricky and using our best methods below to get the best wear out of your liquid lipsticks is key.

Follow the easy steps below for a successful liquid lipstick application and pretty, pouty lips!

 

 

Things you'll need:

1. Your favorite lip scrub.
2. Your favorite lip balm/moisturizer.
3. Your favorite Black Moon liquid lipstick.
4. Your favorite lipliner {optional}.
5. A concealer or foundation and small flat concealer brush {optional}.

 

Step 1: 

Exfoliate any dead skin on your lips. Just like matte foundations, liquid-to-matte lipsticks may accentuate any texture caused from dead skin. Start with a fresh, smooth canvas by gently using your favorite lip scrub prior to your application.

 

 

Step 2:

Moisturize your lips using your favorite balm/moisturizer. After a lip scrub, your lips need some moisturize. Give it some love with a light layer of lip balm and let it sit for 2-3 minutes before applying your liquid lipstick. Wipe off any excess prior to application.

 

 

 Step 3:

Choose the best Black Moon lipstick that compliments your skin tone. First ask yourself, do you like bold or neutral shades? Do you reach for unconventional or nude shades? Whichever level of boldness you prefer, pick the shade that flatters your undertone. If your undertone is more yellow/warm/olive, pick a shade that has some or a lot of brown in it. If you're looking for a bold red lip, pick one that has yellow/orange undertones such as Mortis. 

If your undertone is on the cooler side, pick a shade on the cooler side of the color spectrum such as greens, blues, and purples. If you're looking for a bold red lip, pick one that has blue undertones such as Sanguis. 

 

Step 4:

Once you've chosen your favorite Black Moon shade, if needed, give the vial a little shake before opening. You may line your lips with your favorite lip liner prior to liquid lipstick application {optional}. Unscrew the cap and use the flat side of the wand to apply one layer of liquid lipstick to your lips. This step is key. Our liquid lipsticks pack a powerful color punch so only one to two layers is required for opaqueness. 

 

 

Step 5:

Allow 30-90 seconds for the product to dry completely and touch up in areas as needed. 

 

Bonus Optional Step:

If you need to clean up the lines, use a small concealer brush with a small amount of concealer or foundation to carve out any uneven lines.
